Anuga 2023 draws to a close this afternoon in Cologne, Germany, we’re reflecting on some of the important discussions that Coombe Castle has had with our business partners over the course of the most prominent international trade fair for the food and beverage industry sector.

As the UK’s rollover deal ends this year, with the implementation of bill C-282 in place, it would make it very difficult for continued access for UK’s dairy industry through the traditional routes, instead moving access to Canada’s producers who will not be incentivised to maximise imported product sales. This will not only affect UK businesses but a large number of Canadian SMEs who are reliant on our country’s unique products.

We discussed our dairy export business and, in particular, the challenges with the UK:Canada trade negotiations whereby if there is no quick resolution, the substantial trade we have built with our partners: Tree of Life Canada and Finica Food Specialties Ltd. for over 40 years will not be possible from January.”
